Customized Education

Any educational program can be developed to your specifications. The Society has resources to consult, plan, develop, facilitate and manage diverse educational programs. Although the concentration of content matter requested by many of our member companies is in insurance topics, the Insurance Society has the experience, expertise and resources (such as staff, educational partners, and other associates) to offer broad educational design and delivery. Time, topic, content, and delivery method are all flexible components to be melded into creating the most effective and convenient program for you and the students.

In addition, the delivery time and place of our catalog courses and workshops can be customized. On-site education is not only convenient; it usually produces significant financial advantages. With just ten students (seven for semester courses) you can save significantly on costs compared to general classroom session costs.

Here are a few examples of customized educational sessions that have been developed and delivered to give you a sense of the breadth of possibilities:

Underwriting Assistant Clinics: During these sessions, students analyzed applications, reviewed the decision making process, defended underwriting decisions and learned more about how the underwriters’ decisions affect the company’s performance.

Insurance for Non-Insurance Personnel: Technology departments and financial departments participated in a series of workshops developed to offer an understanding of the industry that they serve.

Advanced Property Adjusters’ School: The Insurance Society facilitates this in-residence school, including coordinating the schedule, developing or recommending the educational topics, content, and learning activities.

Risk Management Information Systems: Students learned how risk managers determined what information should be gathered for an effective risk management program and how data should be managed.

Customer Service Clinic: A program was designed for a group of customer service representatives to help them develop skills in dealing with more challenging customer demands and diversity.

Management Training Sessions: Management training skills workshops were conducted for employees who have management responsibilities. The terminal objective of this program was to enhance existing skills so that participants understand and are better able to execute management responsibilities. The sessions were interactive with much role-play, team building and case study activities. Topics included: The Manager’s Role, Interviewing Techniques, Coaching, Managing Diversity, Delegating, and Performance Management.

Insurance Policy Reviews: Several companies have requested that the Society’s coverage reviews be customized in content to focus on their areas of developmental needs. For example, in addition to reviewing the various parts of the policy, there was a request to also review state specific endorsements.

Reinsurance: In addition to our catalogue listed reinsurance workshop, reinsurance programs have been redesigned and delivered to groups of insurance agents and attorneys that responded to their practical application needs.

In-house: As a result of employee shift work schedules, the Insurance Society conducted an INS 22 class from 8:00 AM to 9:30 AM each Friday morning. And workshops have been taught in various modules, for example, 5:00PM to 6 30 PM. over different days of the week.
